Weather & climate

Auburn experiences a warm-summer Mediterranean climate (Köppen *Csb*), closely bordering on an oceanic climate (*Cfb*), typical of the Puget Sound region.

Summers are generally warm, dry, and sunny, with average high temperatures in July and August resting in the mid-to-upper 70s °F (24-26 °C), though short heatwaves pushing into the 90s are becoming more common. Winters are cool, cloudy, and wet, with daytime highs typically in the mid-40s °F (7-9 °C) and nighttime lows hovering just above freezing.

The city receives approximately 40 inches of rainfall annually, the vast majority of which falls between October and April. Snowfall is typically light and ephemeral, averaging only a few inches a year, though the surrounding hills and plateaus occasionally receive heavier accumulations than the valley floor. The best time to visit for outdoor activities is from July through September, when the weather is reliably dry and clear.
