Agriculture

While historically rooted in agriculture and distilling (most notably the A. Smith Bowman farm and distillery prior to the 1960s), modern Reston has no commercial agriculture.

However, the community spirit of agriculture lives on through community gardening. The Reston Association manages several community garden plots where residents grow their own vegetables and flowers. Additionally, the Lake Anne Village Center hosts a highly popular seasonal Farmers Market, allowing local regional farmers to sell fresh, organic produce, baked goods, and artisanal foods directly to the community.
