Transportation in Highland Village is heavily reliant on personal vehicles. The primary east-west arterial road is Farm to Market Road 407 (Justin Road), which forms the southern border of the city and hosts most of its commercial development. Interstate 35E is easily accessible just to the east in Lewisville, providing a direct route south into Dallas.
Public transit is accessible via the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA). While the trains do not run directly through Highland Village neighborhoods, the Highland Village/Lewisville Lake Station is located just outside the city limits, offering commuter rail service (the A-Train) north to Denton and south to Carrollton, where it connects to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) system. The city is also known for its Inland Trail System, an extensive network of paved, multi-use paths designed for pedestrians and cyclists.
