Historically, the land comprising Bolingbrook was dominated by vast corn and soybean farms. Today, agriculture within the village limits has almost entirely vanished, replaced by residential subdivisions and commercial developments.
While industrial-scale farming is no longer present in the village, residents maintain a connection to agriculture through local farmers' markets, community gardens, and the preservation of nearby natural habitats. Active rural farming still occurs in the unincorporated areas further south and west in Will County.
