The Village of Addison operates under a Mayor and Board of Trustees form of government, often referred to as a Council-Manager system. The Mayor (or Village President) and six Trustees are elected at-large by the residents and are responsible for enacting local ordinances, adopting the village budget, and setting policy.
Day-to-day operations are overseen by a Village Manager appointed by the Mayor and Board. The municipal government provides comprehensive services, including a full-time police department, public works (water, sewer, street maintenance), community development, and building zoning.
At the state and federal levels, Addison is represented in the Illinois General Assembly and falls predominantly within Illinois's 8th Congressional District.
