Transportation in Milton is heavily car-dependent. The city’s road network consists of scenic, winding two-lane roads that navigate its hills and forests, alongside a few major state routes, including GA State Route 9 (Atlanta Highway), GA State Route 140 (Arnold Mill Road), and GA State Route 372 (Birmingham Highway).
Milton residents have easy access to the GA-400 highway corridor located just to the east in Alpharetta, which provides a direct route into Atlanta.
Public transit is virtually non-existent within Milton itself; there are no MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) train stations, and bus service is highly limited. However, the city is actively investing in bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, creating multi-use trails and expanding sidewalks, particularly around the Crabapple district, to encourage localized walkability.
