Historically, the land surrounding Kennesaw was utilized for cotton farming, corn, and localized agriculture throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Today, Kennesaw is a thoroughly developed suburban community, and large-scale commercial agriculture is virtually nonexistent within the city limits. While some residents engage in backyard gardening and support local community farmer's markets, the local economy no longer relies on food production, forestry, or livestock.
