While Fayetteville was historically rooted in agriculture—primarily cultivating cotton, corn, and tobacco—modern farming within the city limits has largely given way to residential and commercial development.
Today, agriculture in and immediately around Fayetteville is small-scale. It includes minor equestrian facilities, hobby farms, and small operations producing local honey, organic vegetables, and artisanal goods for nearby farmers' markets. The dense forests surrounding the city also support a small degree of managed forestry, though the primary land use has firmly transitioned to suburban and urban environments.
