Situated on the Piedmont plateau, College Park features rolling hills and modest ridges without any extreme mountainous terrain or deep canyons. The elevation averages around 1,050 feet above sea level, which provides a relatively temperate environment compared to the lower coastal plains of the state.
Various small waterways and drainage basins, most notably Camp Creek, cut through the city's terrain, creating localized flood plains and heavily wooded natural buffers. The topography has been significantly graded and flattened in the eastern sections to accommodate the massive runways and infrastructure of the airport.
