Transportation

Compton's "Hub City" moniker is deeply tied to its transportation infrastructure. The city is crisscrossed and bordered by major freeways: State Route 91 (Artesia Freeway) runs through the south, Interstate 710 (Long Beach Freeway) to the east, I-105 (Century Freeway) to the north, and I-110 (Harbor Freeway) slightly to the west.

Public transit is a vital resource. The city is served by the Metro A Line (formerly the Blue Line), a light rail service connecting Long Beach to Downtown Los Angeles, with a major stop at the Compton Station. Local bus service is provided by LA Metro, Gardena Municipal Bus Lines, and the city's own Compton Renaissance Transit system. Additionally, the city is home to the Compton/Woodley Airport, a general aviation airport that serves small private aircraft.
