Campbell is located in the west portion of the Santa Clara Valley in Northern California's San Francisco Bay Area. The city is entirely landlocked and serves as a suburban enclave bordered by San Jose to the east and north, Los Gatos to the south, and Saratoga to the west.
The city's physical geography is defined by the flat, fertile basin of the Santa Clara Valley. The most prominent natural feature within the city limits is Los Gatos Creek, which flows northward through the city from the nearby Santa Cruz Mountains toward the San Francisco Bay. The creek corridor provides an essential riparian habitat and a greenbelt through an otherwise highly urbanized environment. Though heavily developed, the city features an extensive tree canopy and several public parks that reflect its fertile, agricultural roots.
