Agriculture forms the backbone of Thodupuzha's historical and current wealth. The absolute dominant crop is natural rubber, which covers almost all available non-urban land in the surrounding midlands.
In addition to rubber, local farmers cultivate a variety of spices including black pepper, ginger, and nutmeg. Plantains, tapioca, and coconut are grown extensively for domestic consumption and local trade. Over recent years, there has been a growing interest in organic farming, polyhouse agriculture, and dairy farming, supported by local agricultural cooperatives and government initiatives.
