Topography

The topography of Pala features an undulating landscape typical of Kerala's midlands. The town itself sits at a relatively low elevation of approximately 17 meters (56 feet) above sea level, primarily occupying the floodplains and immediate banks of the Meenachil River.

Moving away from the riverbanks, the terrain gradually slopes upward into small hillocks and elevated plateaus. These hillocks are extensively terraced and cultivated. While Pala does not have high mountain peaks within its municipal limits, the foothills of the Western Ghats are visible in the distance and heavily influence the region's drainage patterns, with numerous small streams crisscrossing the terrain to join the main river.
