Economy

The Netherlands boasts one of the most highly developed, wealthy, and stable economies in the world. It consistently ranks in the global top 20 for nominal GDP and enjoys a very high standard of living. The Dutch economy is heavily export-oriented, characterized by robust industrial relations, low unemployment, and a massive surplus in trade.

Strategic location is a major economic driver. The Port of Rotterdam is the largest port in Europe, and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is a major European transit hub, cementing the country's status as a premier logistics and distribution center for the continent.

The cost of living is relatively high, particularly in the Randstad, but this is offset by high wages, excellent public services, and comprehensive social safety nets. The nation is a pioneer in sustainable economic development, heavily investing in green energy, circular economy models, and technological innovation.
