Agriculture in Meenachil is dominated by the plantation of *Hevea brasiliensis* (the Para rubber tree). Almost every available acre of sloped land is terraced and planted with rubber.
Beyond rubber, the region's fertile soil and heavy rainfall support a rich variety of tropical crops. Spices such as black pepper, nutmeg, cardamom, and cloves are widely grown in mixed-cropping systems alongside rubber or near homesteads. Coconut palms, tapioca (cassava), plantains, and jackfruit are staple food crops grown in almost every residential compound. Organic farming and dairy farming also supplement the incomes of many rural households.
