Kottayam is the publishing capital of Kerala. It is the headquarters for **Malayala Manorama**, one of India's most widely circulated daily newspapers. **Deepika**, the oldest Malayalam newspaper currently in publication, was also founded here. The district hosts regional bureaus for major media networks like Mathrubhumi and Asianet, and acts as the center for Malayalam book publishing.
