As a highly developed urban cultural district and public parkland in the center of Thiruvananthapuram, the Museum locality does not support commercial agriculture or livestock farming. However, the compound functions as an extensive botanical garden, hosting rare species of tropical trees, ornamental plants, and meticulously landscaped gardens maintained by the state government for horticultural education and aesthetic preservation.
