Kerala boasts a highly developed transportation network. It is the only Indian state with four international airports: Thiruvananthapuram, Cochin, Calicut, and Kannur. Cochin International Airport is notably the world's first fully solar-powered airport.
The state is well-connected by National Highways (primarily NH 66 running along the coast) and an extensive rail network operated by Southern Railway. Public transit is dominated by the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses and private operators. Kochi features a modern rapid transit system (Kochi Metro) and the innovative Kochi Water Metro, integrating water transport with urban commuting. The National Waterway 3 also facilitates inland cargo movement.
