Kerala's foundational infrastructure is highly developed compared to the national average. It was the first Indian state to achieve 100% village electrification. Water supply and sanitation are managed by the Kerala Water Authority (KWA), with ongoing projects to ensure piped drinking water to all rural households.
Digital infrastructure is a major priority. In a landmark move, Kerala declared internet access a basic human right. Through the Kerala Fiber Optic Network (KFON) initiative, the government is working to provide high-speed broadband connections to all households, bridging the digital divide and supporting the state's growing tech economy.
