Khuzestan's infrastructure is dominated by national strategic assets. It is a powerhouse for electricity generation, hosting some of the Middle East's largest hydroelectric dams, including the Karun-1, Karun-3, Karun-4, and Dez dams, which feed the national grid. Thermal power plants also contribute to the energy supply.
Water infrastructure is complex and somewhat controversial. While the province holds massive water resources, water transfer projects redirecting water to central Iran, combined with recurring droughts, have strained local agriculture and drinking water quality.
Telecommunications and broadband internet are widely accessible in urban and suburban areas, provided by national carriers like MCI and Irancell, though access is subject to Iran's national internet filtering policies. Urban sewer and sanitation systems are present but frequently face challenges during heavy seasonal rains, leading to urban flooding in cities like Ahvaz.
