Government

Isfahan Province is an administrative division of the Islamic Republic of Iran. It is governed by a Governor-General (Ostandar), who is appointed by the national Minister of Interior and approved by the cabinet. The Governor-General is responsible for implementing state policies, overseeing regional development, and maintaining public order.

The province is subdivided into numerous counties (Shahrestans), each headed by a Farmandar (Governor). Notable counties include Isfahan, Kashan, Najafabad, and Shahreza. Each county is further divided into districts (Bakhsh) and rural agglomerations (Dehestan).

Locally, cities and villages elect municipal councils, which in turn appoint a Mayor who manages daily urban services, city planning, and local infrastructure. Isfahan Province has significant political weight in the national parliament (Majlis), sending multiple representatives to Tehran to advocate for regional interests.
