WHY JOIN SOCIALPULSE ?

With so many social networking sites your first Question may be - Why social pulse? How does it differ from others? The simple answer is we give you the functionality of social networking like others and even connecting you with them while creating a value for every thing you do online and offline.

There are variety of online communities on the net and most people become involved in more than one. However, these are not properly connected and your effort to create and contribute content and thoughts to these communities are wasted or of no value to you as a contributor and to the society. Social Pulse will change that. Your contributions will become your 'Social Capital'. We want you to know the value of your wisdom, effort and content and help you document it, nurture, promote and capitalize it.

A lot of people do not have a clear idea how internet works and what happens to their online contributions; who owns it? who benefits from it?  We hope to educate all users about the importance of their effort and time creating content for websites and how to guard it and benefit from that.

All our platforms are built with that goal in mind and we will provide you various tips and instructions on how to build your social capital online and benefit from it.

What is SocialPulse?

SocialPulse is not a social network like Facebook or Linkedin - it is an online platform to help individuals find themselves on the web and control and enhance their online footprint sharing wisdom and knowledge, while connected to others using all popular social networks. It also explains and helps how social capital is created and enhanced on an individual and group basis using crowd wisdom.

These days everybody searches for everything online. This includes personal details by an employer or a college admissions office. SocialPulse has built a unique set of tools that allows members to manage and curate everything that is said about them on the Internet. It also provides unique tools to document their offline activities in a chronological and categorized manner too. A member will use SocialPulse to sift through the web and showcase only the references that belong to them. With several people having same name you need to differentiate who you are and what you find online that relates you only. An employer or any other visitor can visualize a member’s online presence all in one place like an online social resume. SocialPulse is a vehicle for members to add to their online profile by blogging, tweeting, commenting, adding events and ad activities,  images and embedding videos on any topic. SocialPulse keeps track of a member’s contributions and provides an assessment of their accumulated reputation or social capital. The member adds to their social capital by creating, investigating and commenting on any topic or event they can think of (Wisdom 2.0 Conference http://www.socialpulse.com/index.php?mode=events&fanCalendar_month=5&fanCalendar_day=1 ).

Just as SocialPulse can build a snapshot of an individual – it does the same for any topic – be it for a celebrity, politician, (President Barack Obama : http://www.socialpulse.com/President_Barack_Obama ) an academic topic (Global Warming http://www.socialpulse.com/Global_Warming ), a cause or for a current event. (Volcanic Ash Cloud http://www.socialpulse.com/Volcanic_Ash_cloud ) Any member can create web profiles for topics of interest - extracting data from the web and curating them with comments, links, blogs, images, videos, and podcasts.   These “curated” profiles will be attributed to the member and enhances their social capital, online reputation and branding. When others join the discussions it adds value to the member and those participants. For students, the topic profiles are a good way to gather all the information in one place and discuss various aspects with other students and teachers. (DNA – Genetic Testing : http://www.socialpulse.com/DNA_Genetic_Test Whatever each student contributes (wall posts, blogs or comments) – they are attributed on their own walls with linked reference to the topic profile that may be followed by hundreds of others.

The glue that holds SocialPulse together and makes it different than any other social network is its “peer-to-peer” wall system that is both a promotional and sharing tool. Everything a member does on his profile or any topic profile is recorded and is presented on their personal wall and the scrap book of his friends and followers. For example, any time an individual comment on World Hunger (http://www.socialpulse.com/World_Hunger ) – a copy is referenced back on their wall. In addition, every comment made by anyone for any topic that the member follows will be recorded on the members “Scrapbook”. The Scrapbook is a compendium of everything a member is interested in and follows. Consequently, a viewer can go to the members home page and see everything they are doing, in one place.

SocialPulse provides a way to manage your online brand. Most young people today participate in at least 3 or more social networks including Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, MySpace, Flickr, or FriendFeed. SocialPulse provides a tool to set up and view several of a person’s social networks all in one place. On a single page you can navigate through all a persons social networks, their website or blog and get a glimpse of what else they are doing online. The tool makes it easy for a member to update and showcase their online information and status without having to jump from site to site.

SocialPulse lets members document all their social and community and social service activities with an “Activity Journal”. The Activity Journal provides a record of everything that you do online or offline. (http://tomvell.socialpulse.com/calendar/diary?fanCalendar_day=15 ) Over time this becomes a powerful statement about who you are and what activities you are engaged in. Students will use SocialPulse to build a case to get into a great college or get that perfect job (great for job seekers too).

SocialPulse is special because it is a promotional tool for individuals and businesses alike. Every page, comment, blog, image or video is carefully crafted to be recognized and indexed by Google. When a member searches on their name in Google and other search engines – most likely they will see a reference to SocialPulse profile.

SocialPulse enables everything to be “Shareable” on the other social networks. Every blog post, comment, image, video or activity becomes a “Social Object” that is easily passed along to Facebook, Twitter other social networks.

In the end, SocialPulse provides a vibrant, open and transparent system where ideas are shared and promoted equally. Membership is not required to view and appreciate the fresh content that is delivered. In the near future – expect to see SocialPulse connecting to and creating conversations with politicians, local communities and small businesses.

SocialPulse is currently doing a study with the professor and students of San Jose State University School of Journalism ) to study the promotion of SocialPulse for students as well as journalists (http://www.socialpulse.com/SJSU_Journalism_and_Mass_Communications).

SocialPulse will facilitate conversation, opportunity and commerce while building social capital for individuals, businesses and communities.
